On Sunday morning 9th September 1739, 20 black slaves secretly met near the Stony River in South Carolina and planned to escape freedom. A few minutes later they ran into Hutchinson's store at Stornow Bridge, killed the two shopkeepers and stole the guns and powder.
As they move to the south, the number of slave groups increases. Stono rebellion is the largest slave riot in colonies of the American Revolutionary War and is underway.
