Sticking to Your Guns or Conforming to Social Pressure in a Study, “A Minority of One Against a Unanimous Majority” by Solomon E. Asch

The control group has been instructed to take passive action against the reaction of critics and will not be surprised by any choice they made. The whole experiment was conducted at three different universities including random sampling of the student group. (Asch) The trial of this study included a neutral exam. There, there was a critical trial that most people correctly respond to the trust of the main theme. In some experiments, most people were asked to select lines farther from the actual length of the test line.

Social psychologist Solomon Asch conducted a survey to find out the influence of most people on individuals in "opinion and social stress". Solomon Asch found that a large number of people appeared under collective pressure and others could oppose the majority consensus. Like many of his colleagues, Solomon Ash wants to know how collective pressure influences individuals (176). Asch wants to discover the impact of social power on people's decision-making. In a recent era, we have witnessed and read about propaganda that affect society as a whole. Solomon Asch wants to discover the role of social conditions in shaping people's opinion (176). 132 male college students participated in this study. Participants displayed a series of lines, "standard" lines, and several other lines matching standard lines.

Regarding the topic of social influence, there is an excerpt of Stanley Mill Gram's integrated experimental article, Solomon E. Ash's research "Opinion and Social Pressure", and "General People" who tries to explain and contribute to the impact . The experiment began with seven to nine young people sitting in the room. Prior to the experiment, the young people, except one, said that everyone agreed to the right answer and continued talking the correct answer.
