Stereotypes and Stereotyping of Teenagers

Adolescent stereotypes As long as we solve these problems, we may think that we are living in times when discrimination has been kept to a minimum. In 1993, the Los Angeles Times announced a series of interviews with teenagers using stereotypes. A high school freshman said to the reporters, "I am not a stereotype, but sometimes I will judge them through my first impression. Once I thought she was a black friend so I wanted a white girl I made a stereotype, I know her, I know she is a sweet person, she behaves just like she does because she grows around black people. The most common stereotypes in television programs and movies are sex, culture, and religion. These stereotypes are harmful to young people who are developing their own view of the world. Our generation loves movies very much, so our media has different stereotypes and there is a tendency to agree and support them. Teenagers / popular animation for families like families T.V program, American dad and South Park are full of stereotypes based on religion, gender and culture. These shows use stereotypes to appeal to young audiences in a nifty way; by attracting more to see these shows it is becoming more and more popular.
