STEM for Kids: Egg Drop Project

Have you ever tried the Egg Drop project? This is for our fourth consecutive years children to participate in this super fun STEM event! Please learn how to do it with your children and students and try to print two free printable records

Children are always looking forward to the annual egg drop project! If you are not accustomed to this popular STEM activity, the challenge for children is to use a variety of materials (usually recyclable) to design devices to protect raw eggs from undulations.

This activity is most popular in high school physics classes, but we have adapted it to elementary school students and have cooperated with my husband's fourth grade program for many years. (You can even do it with preschool children!)

The children were told to bring the materials from the house for the eggs. This year we changed the rules and deleted some of the materials that children usually use for egg devices - neither box nor battery-operated items

After collecting the material in a few days, students can work independently in pairs or in groups to design equipment to protect their raw eggs.

Then they brought their equipment out and tested them. My husband raised the school roofs with all the egg containers and threw them away. This is the challenge of our highest egg landing compared to the past few years, so this time there are many broken eggs!

The children were very excited to join the Egg Drop project and that we will do this again later this year, taking into account what we have learned from the current Egg Drop challenge We proposed. I think I will do it again soon!
