Modern steel mills receive low current and high voltage electricity from electric generator generators. The purpose of the main transformer at the steelworks is to lower this voltage. Therefore, the transformer supplies high current and low voltage power to the EAF furnace. Large type furnaces with transformer rated over 100 MVA are not uncommon. This process usually has two phases. The transformer first lowers the voltage from high level to medium level. Although the "medium voltage" standard varies from country to country, it is usually 30 to 33 kilovolts in Europe and Japan, but it is usually 34.5 kilovolts in the United States.

Steel is an iron-carbon alloy that has been recycled since ancient times around the world. There are mainly two ways to manufacture steel. It is a basic oxygen furnace (BOF) process using 25% to 35% recycled steel and an electric arc furnace (EAF) process using almost 100% recycled steel. In order to manufacture secondary steel, the scrap is smelted (indeed iron ore is not used :-)). Steel is refined, additives and new steel are added. Electricity is used for both smelting and purification. This means that the carbon footprint of this steel depends on the type of power used. The area of ​​electricity from hydroelectric power plants is greatly reduced compared to the electricity used in coal-fired power stations. The most common production route for secondary steel production is the electric arc furnace (EAF). As its name suggests, an electric arc furnace is used to refine waste. This method requires energy of 1 megawatt hour or more and produces 0.4 tons of carbon dioxide per ton of steel produced. This is far less than primary production.

The purpose of this plant is to generate electricity by using exhaust gas generated in the steelmaking process. The power plant will have a capacity of 100 megawatts per year. Exhaust gases from blast furnaces and Corex devices are combustible fuels in the process. The calorific value of the gas generated from the blast furnace is 800 kilocalories per cubic meter per cubic meter. The blast furnace gas used after the steel works enter the factory is used as fuel and the fuel is now burned according to Indian environmental regulations. So far, JSW Power has been supplying electricity to the steelworks, which is quite different from JSW Steel. By independently producing electricity, JSW Steel can minimize production costs and become independent.
