At 11:00 local time on July 8, 1962, the United States exploded a thermal nuclear warhead with 826 miles from Honolulu, Hawaii and 400 kilometers from Johnston. That night it was a night that many of the people of the Hawaiian Islands never forgot (Berkhouse, 1962). Since the test was encoded by the US military, it caused the first damage to the United States with an electromagnetic pulse generated by a nuclear explosion. The 4 megaton weapon did not have any intention or plans to cause damage, but caused "a street light system failure, a circuit breaker trip, a triggering of a burglary alarm, and a damage to a communication relay facility". (EM
A year after the TRAAC was launched in 1961, the United States tested nuclear bombs in the highland - Prime Minister Starkfish is the largest artificial nuclear explosion in the universe. The explosion generated an unexpectedly large electromagnetic pulse (EMP), which knocked down a lot of satellites (and blew Hawaii's street light 1,500 kilometers away). TRAAC is one of the casualties. This is the first geostationary satellite. In other words, it orbits the earth at the same speed as the rotation of the earth. Basically it is in the same place in the sky. Driving into this orbit is a major technological achievement. The orbit altitude of the first satellite Sputnik's earth was 577 kilometers. After 7 years, Syncom 3 reached 35,000 km
Last week, a tourist asked if they called starfish as starfish or as starfish. At the Grant Museum, our asteroids are marked as starfish. Obviously, this confused name has led the children and adults to distinguish starfish from fish rather than echinoderm. Occasionally, we receive similar questions from visitors and students who happen when the pedigree of science encountered the common name. As another example, please have Paolo Viscardi of Horniman Museum colleague explain clearly that Apes is a monkey at once.
Starfish has been repeatedly chosen as a name in the military history. The three vessels of the British Navy were named the Class A destroyer launched in 1894, the R class destroyer launched in 1916, the HMS Starfish that was launched in 1933 and defeated in 1940 . In World War II, the Starfish website was a massive nighttime bait created during Blitz, imitating a burning British city. Starfish Prime is a highland nuclear test conducted by the United States on July 9, 1962.
