Spring 2017 update: Tentative timeline for open-book and options you requested

ABIM continues our work to provide customers with more options, relevance and convenience. In 2018, certified physicians and certified kidney specialists can choose to conduct open label long-term evaluation (ABIM's 10-year trial) or biennial open book knowledge testing every ten years.

You can select when and where to do the knowledge check for 2 years and immediately provide results to most doctors after knowledge check.

If your medical or kidney certification has expired in 2018 and you want to maintain certification, you will also join the 2018 open-end long-term evaluation or Open-Book Knowledge Check in addition to meeting other program requirements is needed.

When knowledge was registered for trial in 2018, it will be irrelevant for those who did not pass. This means that your certification will expire in 2018 and if you fail to register your knowledge in 2018, you will be able to join again without changing the certification. This allows ABIM to gain experience with this new approach and make improvements for future management.
