Sports Journalism as Moral and Ethical Discourse

In this article we will explore the limitation of sports writing to show the limited way "who is a journalist". It is answered within the profession. Following John Dewey and Raymond Williams, we provide another concept of a democratic culture that emphasizes stories and information. We also discussed how "new journalists" (and other writers) use sports as a cultural activity worthy of serious scrutiny in searching for fresh and complex narrative strategies. Our goal is to prove that sports writing is basically similar to other forms of reporting, and journalism should use sports as a moral scarecrow to keep the merit of its serious work It is not. Disrupting our usual moral decisions makes it possible to deepen our understanding of the moral meaning of sports lighting and reconsider the relationship between news and democratic culture in a productive and new way.

In sports, ethical discrimination belongs to the field of sports philosophy. Sports ethics is the most urgent task in presenting problem-centered solutions for doping discussion (Pawlenka 2004). However, a meaningful discussion about sports ethics can only be achieved by carefully analyzing the movement of the words (Steenbergen & Tamboer 1998). Because human behavior is characterized by interaction with others, the sports field is closely related to ethical issues (McFee 1998). In addition, bonds are created by sports itself, as there are some moral values ​​attributable to it. Since it is based on rules (eg Alderson & Crutchley 1990), movement is often seen as a representation of ethical behavior (McFee 1998). This is also evident from sportsmanship, fair competition, and rules. McFee (1998: 5) pointed out that "the emergence of moral issues comes from the essence of sports."

As philosophers have traditionally discussed morality, it is sometimes difficult to define them in the context of modern sports. Furthermore, since the purpose of sports is winning, it is paralyzed how morality can adapt to this purpose. Today, there are two organizations that are working to develop a framework of sports ethics, including the International Sports Philosophy Association, two things are obvious: ethics is essential to good sportsmanship. The National Sports Federation points out that the essential elements of sportsmanship include all principles related to cooperation, appreciation, honor, humility, and fairness - ethics.
