Speech Acts: Complimenting

The behavior of the speech given by my group is a compliment. Praise is an act of praising someone's appearance, behavior or other qualities. Each member of the team collects data from 10 different sources to discover the pattern and generalization of praise behavior. In the second half of the class, we interviewed the pastor Myungku Lee who came to the United States from Korea. He offered us much information on how to deal with past and today's Korean praise.

As we all know, different cultural values ​​are reflected in speech acts. As a freedom of speech widely used in Vietnamese and English speaking countries, complimentary speech is no exception. Furthermore, there is actually a practical transfer of English learners in Vietnam. Most importantly, the basic purpose of language education is to help learners improve the communication skills of the target languages, and researchers place great emphasis on comparative analysis of students' native languages ​​and target languages doing. With this in mind, this article focuses on tributes in English and Vietnamese, focusing on common themes, syntactic formulas and semantic expressions used to express compliments, and responses to responses between the two languages It shows the difference of praise strategy.

Speech acts are discourses that play a role in communication. When we offer apologies, greetings, requests, complaints, invitations, praise or refusal, we do speech acts. "I'm sorry, I forgot my birthday, just let me relax." Speech acts include actual interactions. In addition to requiring knowledge of languages, we also need to properly use that language in specific cultures.

Speech act analysis is not the form of discourse but the role of discourse. I am married saying "I am announcing your man and wife now". Learning utterance acts like praise makes it possible for discourse analysts to ask what compliments, who tributes, and other features they can play. For example, linguists are observing that women are more likely to admire and receive praise. There are also cultural differences; in India, if someone admires one of your items, courtesy requires that you should provide that item as a gift. The Indian lady who just met her son 's American wife was shocked when she heard her new wife praise her beautiful Sally. "What kind of girl is married, she wants everything," he said. Discourse analysts wish to contribute to improving cross-cultural understanding by comparing how words are used by people of different cultures.
