Special Education Has Come a Long Way; But There is Still a Ways to Go

EHA was later revised and reapproved as a disabled person education law in 1990. This bill was revised in 1997 and 2004. In 2004, the bill was renamed "IDEIA" for Improvement of Persons with Disabilities, but people are still calling it the idea. This Act ensures that all children have the right to receive free and appropriate public education (FAPE). It has the following features: Individualized Education Program (IEP), procedural safeguards, discriminatory evaluation, and the most unrestricted environment.
