Special Education Critique and Limitations Cited by Researchers

The limits of research cited by research and researchers are inherently qualitative and therefore considered subjective. Therefore, RISER is focusing on schools engaged in reform efforts, including disabled students, trying to identify educational practices that will benefit all students. RISER is based on a realistic and inclusive learning school (SAIL; see Hanley-Maxwell, Phelps, Braden, and Warren, 1999). At the center of the SAIL model is the true achievement and concept of pedagogy. As part of the nationwide school restructuring study (Newmann & Wehlage, 1995), actual education and learning will provide a framework for practicing lessons including students and non-disabled students.
