For refugee families in Southeast Asia, the change in gender relations is a factor in the change in the role of gender after relocation. Elderly men lose traditional roles, solve problems, arbitrate, and make important decisions. It is when they lose their power and they can not be proficient in understanding English or Western culture. The parents of the Miao family learned that their children are cultural subjects, which compromised the ability of his father to feed his family and he therefore lowered his position. Meanwhile, women of the Mong tribe have many rights and protections from abuse and realize that they are easier to adjust than their husbands. In addition, they sold complex needlework and provided household income (Chan 1994).

Since sex-related socio-cultural changes have a major impact on family systems, gender roles in families are at the heart of family communication studies. When a child's gender is decided in the womb or at birth, information about what is considered a woman and a man is started. Which of the following combinations is considered a female pink room, doll and clothing, or blue room, truck and pants? Communication with families can provide an understanding of how certain people classify specific behaviors and objectives as gender. Parents inform children of their gender, from purchasing toys and housework to information on appropriate courtship. In the US, housework is usually allocated separately to girls and boys, girls assign more chores such as cutlery and vacuum, but boys assign garbage and dispose of garbage.

The gender problem focuses on women, relationships between men and women, their roles, access and management of resources, division of labor, benefits and needs. Gender relations affect family happiness, family safety, planning, production, and many other aspects. So, today's definition of sex role had meaning that it was no longer comparable to the Bible, so it should be revised and predefined. Many countries experienced tremendous fuss in the previous generation and changed their traditional sex role.
