SOS Children's Village is the largest independent, non-governmental, non-profit international development agency headquartered in Innsbruck, Austria. This organization provides humanitarian aid and development assistance to the children in need and protects the interests and rights of children all over the world. The first SOS Children's Village was founded in 1949 by an Austrian philanthropist Hermann Minor in Tirol, Austria. Today, SOS Children's Village is active in 135 countries and regions around the world.
Since 1963, SOS Children's Village has been involved in India. In the village of 41 SOS children in this vast country, about 18,000 children and young people found new homes - most of them are girls. In 16 schools of SOS Hermann Gmeiner in the Indian subcontinent, nearly 5,000 girls and boys are educated. Over 1,300 young people completed qualified vocational training at nine SOS vocational training centers. 34 SOS social centers and 2 SOS medical centers provide medical and psychological aid to the troubled families. SOS Children's Village is working on eradicating poverty in India in cooperation with other aid organizations and people
The SOS Children's Village also has two SOS youth facilities for girls and boys. SOS Children's Village teenagers usually move to SOS youth facilities when they start vocational training courses or continue receiving higher education. With the support of competent young workers, they develop a realistic view of their future, learn to take responsibility, and make more and more decisions. Develop teamwork and encourage them to have connections with families, friends, authorities and potential employers. The girl 's SOS Youth House is in the venue of SOS Children' s Village, and boys' teenage is located elsewhere close to the city center.
