Louis Francia is a Filipino-American poet, a journalist, and a non-fiction writer. He has received several books including "Eye of the Fish: Individual Islands", "Philippines": Philippines in the United States, and the history of the Philippines: Indiana Bravos to the Filipino. From 1984 to 2006 he was an assistant editor and author of The Village Voice and was a former Op-Ed columnist at New York Daily News. Currently I am a professor of Asian American studies at New York University and Hunter College and live in Queens with my wife Midori. For complete bio, please check out his Poetry Foundation page.
From the experience of the Philippines, Isabel Yap is definitely a writer. Filipino writer Yap, a speculative short story and poetry, is a graduate of Clarion Writers Workshop, and her work has appeared in Tor.com, Uncanny magazine, Fantasy of the Year, and so on. She also runs a full Twitter account with writers' suggestions. However, I was born and grew up in the Philippines. I moved to the United States at the age of 20, so when I moved here I was already an adult. I think that I am immigrant, but I am not a US citizen. I do not know where the future is.
