Solomon Asch Conformity Experiments (1951)

In 1951, Solomon Asch conducted several experiments on integration. The purpose of these studies was to investigate the consistency in the population environment. The purpose of these experiments is to ascertain whether a person is under public pressure to match the wrong answer. Ash believes that integration reflects a relatively reasonable process by which people are forced to change their behavior. Experiments designed by Asch are used to measure the pressure of the group's situation against personal judgment.

Removing the partner in the middle of the study raised the level of eligibility after they left. Since the size of the group also affects the degree of integration, the smaller the group, the smaller the group becomes as a whole. People's reactions, people talking in front of allies are more consistent than private written responses.

In my Psych 112 course, I learned about a series of experiments of Solomon Asch on integration and personality. In 1951, Solomon Ash designed one of the most classical social psychology experiments at Swarthmore College, with a total of eight students. However, 7 out of the 8 participants were actually members of the experimenter disguised as a participant who is also known as an alliance. The experimenter asked each of the eight participants to choose which of the three lines of the right card would match the line length of the left card. Repeat the same task several times with different cards. The correct answer is obvious. If a participant gave the wrong answer, it is obviously due to team pressure.
