This page is an older version of NOAA Solar Calculator. As the computer was first created, we decided to use a nonstandard definition of longitude and time zone to reduce the ambiguity of coordinate input as it goes back. Therefore, on this page, longitude and time zone are defined as not good for the West. It is not an international standard on the east side of the main meridian.

This page is due to the favor of those who like old calculators for some reason. For others, we recommend trying to update the version of the NOAA Solar Calculator here.

Choose a location from the City drop-down menu or select Enter Latency / Length -> from the drop down menu and manually enter the latitude, longitude, and time zone information in the appropriate text box To do. You can enter a different time zone for the location by selecting "Enter latitude / length ->" in the city drop down box. Otherwise, the time zone associated with the local standard time of the selected city is automatically entered. If you select "Yes" in the daylight saving time field, the resulting sunrise, sunset, and noon are adjusted one hour ahead. If you do not know the time zone of your location, please see the time zone table.

The program gets the current date from the computer and enters it into the month, day, year field. To perform calculations on different dates, simply select the month from the drop down menu and enter the date and 4-digit year in the appropriate input box. When entering a date or year, you need to click the "calculate sunrise / sunset" button to update the results for this day.

After displaying the calculation results you can use the "print" function of the web browser to get a hard copy of the result.

In places above the Arctic Circle and below the Antarctic, if there is no sunrise or sunset on a particular day, the program will find the local sunrise or sunset local time and date, and the next sunrise or sunrise. When this occurs, the UTC field will display "previous" or "next" information instead of UTC time.

Note: For latitude exceeding 72 degrees north latitude, the calculation is accurate within 10 minutes. If the latitude is less than +/- 72 °, the accuracy is about 1 minute. For detailed procedure, please refer to "Solar calculation details".
