Socrates and the Sophists

If someone calls you a refined person, how do you feel? Before answering it is important to know how the meaning of words evolves. "Sophisticated people in the 5th century were teachers, speakers, and philosophers using rhetoric (Mardner 1)." However, many people objected to their teaching. Socrates is a philosopher against Sophist. The main difference between Sophist and Socrates is their view of absolute truth. "Sophisticated people believe that there is no absolute truth, and the truth believes what people believe. (Porter 1)" The boss is not a truth teacher but a teacher of thinking.

Sobist, Socrates contemporary or younger professional rhetoric is often listed as Socrates origin. The term Sophist is not a specific individual but a group of professional rhetoric teachers who are active in the Greek political environment. Some people clearly propose the concept of moral relativism and secularist happiness. Socrates challenged them, and Plato explained their argument in his conversation.
