Social Work and the Military

Social workers and all military social workers are helping families and soldiers prepare for war troubles. They accomplish this through a series of preventive and clinical services offered by Veterans Administration, including various kinds of programs such as family support and mental health counseling. The mission of the VA social worker is to eliminate major obstacles to customers in need and to intervene veterans and families.

School social work, mental health social work, aging social work, medical social work, child welfare social work, military social work, macro social work. At the core of these various practical and professional sectors is that we are all social workers and have a variety of social work skills. When I reviewed my member's resume with NASW-NC, I was asked how to explain that social work skills in a certain field can be transferred to other fields. If you've worked with a child over the past 5 years, that does not mean you can not transform your practice well into elderly or program management. In most cases the ability to express skills necessary for open positions is important to justify practice. License may become obstacle if you do not have it

Military social work is a field of practice that provides necessary support and intervention for soldiers, retirees, their spouses and their families. Military social workers receive special training to enable them to meet the needs of military clients. They must understand the role of individuals in the culture of military and veterans and take account of the complex responsibilities of soldiers in evaluating. It is also important to understand the history of the Unified Military Justice Act and military social welfare and what is happening now in social welfare fields. Clinical social workers working in a military environment must be prepared to meet the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of soldiers. Individuals who have a master's degree in social work are entitled to serve as officers of military officers or military reserve forces.
