So What (Miles Davis composition)

The presentation of the piano and bass of this work was written by Gil Evans for Bill Evans (unrelated) and by Paul Chambers of Kind of Blue. An orderly version of Gil Evans 'introduction was later discovered on Miles' television on the first Quintet song (Cannonball Adderley who was sick on that day) and Gil Evans Orchestra. The orchestra introduced it and the Quintet played the rest of So What. Please use the double base to play the theme to make this work unique. This arrangement was later recorded and recorded as part of Carnegie Hall 's album Miles Davis.

Bill Evans' unique sound for inserting head chords, three notes from the bottom, the fourth perfect note, and the third important note, Mark Clement theorist call it "a very chord" is.

This track will be played at a very gentle speed in Kind of Blue, but it will be played very quickly in Quintet's late live like Four & More.

This is Jarrett's first ECM Records album. This was recorded on the second day after the performance by Jarrett and Miles Davis which was held in Oslo, Norway in 1971.
