In the United States, Smarties is a flat panel candy manufactured by Smarties Candy Company (formerly Ce De Candy Inc.) since 1949. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] Smart people are produced in Union Township, New Jersey and New Market in Ontario. [2] Candies distributed in Canada are listed as Rocket to avoid confusion with Nestlé's Smarties. [2] [6] About 1 billion rolls of Smarties are produced per year in New Jersey factories [7] and the annual total production is over $ 5 billion. [8] [9] [6]

The single candy is a double concave disc with a diameter of about 1 cm (0.39 inch) and a height of about 4 mm (0.16 inch). The larger diameter is 5 cm (0.98 in) and the thickness is approximately 6 mm (0.24 in). The wise men combine colors with reel of winding color; these include yellow, pink, orange, purple and green white and soft tone. [10] The taste of each color is different. They are usually wrapped in a roll of 15 candies. [8] [2] Smarties are peanut free, gluten free, fat free and dairy free. Smarties Confections operates two factories that produce over 70,000 pounds of smart people every Friday, 24 hours a week, on a daily basis. After mixing the dry ingredients, they are compressed into tablets, then stacked and wound in a Smarties wrapper for packaging. [15]

The ingredients of Smarties are glucose, citric acid, calcium stearate, natural and artificial flavor, and color. A handful of Smarties has 25 calories and 6 grams of sugar. [10] [8]

Each package contains a variety of soft colors including white, yellow, pink, green, purple and orange. [10] The taste of each color is: white orange cream, yellow pineapple, pink cherry, green strawberry, purple grape, orange orange. [10] [17] [18] Smarties Candy Company is also manufacturing Smarties [17] [19] of X-treme Acid and Tropical variety and 3 sized candies. In October 2015, the company launched Smarties'n Creme. This is a one-quarter size candy piece with a subtle flavor on one side and a creamy taste on the other side. [8] [1]
