Slavery in West Africa and the Caribbean

Many people around the world believe that slavery is taking place only in North America, Africans are the only people facing punishment. This widely prevalent stereotype is actually fake. From 1450 to 1750, the Caribbean and West Africa were strongly influenced by slave trade across the Atlantic Ocean. Wrong and immoral, slavery has similarities and differences in slavery in either place.

The Caribbean is one of the worst slave trade activities in the world. The ship in Europe is sailing from Africa to the Caribbean Sea.

The company turned into slavery and was established in the Dutch colony of the Caribbean, Southeast Asia, South Africa. After shipping more than 20 years of the first shipment, the West India Company in the Netherlands dominated the import of slaves from the coasts of the West and Central Africa. Most of the slaves were sent to the Dutch colony plantation in the Caribbean Sea, but some of the slaves were imported directly to New Holland from Angola company's station. They were used for logging of forests, laying of roads, and other heavy labor to the colonies and provision of public services.

Slavery in the United States is particularly prominent in the ability of slave groups to increase that number by natural breeding. In the Caribbean, the Netherlands, Guyana and Brazil, the birthrate is low due to the very high slave mortality rate, not imported from Africa and slaves can not maintain their population. In the early nineteenth century, the average number of children born as slaves in the south was 9.2 times that of the West Indies. In the West Indies, slaves account for 80% to 90% of the population, but in the south only about one third of the population is enslaved. The planted area is also very different. In the Caribbean, slaves are housed in larger units, and in many farms there are more than 150 slaves. In contrast, in the south of the United States, only one slave owner has 1000 slaves, but only 125 slaves have more than 250 slaves. Half of the US slaves work in units of less than 20 slaves and three quarters are less than 50 slaves.
