Slavery in a society before the 20th century This is a depiction of slavery in societies before the 20th century and is portrayed through poetry by F. E. W. Harper (1825-1911) and T. Hood (1799-1845). I will discuss ideas and ideas Harper and Hood put out in poetry. These two poems describe two different aspects of slavery. Harper's first poem "Slave Mother" was about a woman imprisoned in slavery, and her only child was taken away. This is a very emotional poem.
