Single Fatherhood

A single father is a minority father. They are rare, but as more and more people understand that their fathers can meet their child's needs, they are growing rapidly. Without battle, one father will not be supervised separately. It's far harder than the mother endured. Normally custody is given to the mother. However, recently, fathers started paying more attention to the best interests of their children and began to oppose social treatment types.

A single father is often the result of divorce, but in some cases this is due to maternal death, cancer is the main cause. In the United States, over 100,000 children live with widows' fathers, and their fathers are closely related to their loss and the emotional availability of child's mental health (Yopp & Rosenstein, 2012). In addition to providing child rearing for children under 5 years old, a single father is treated in many ways just like a single mother. In such a case, fathers spend less time spending on body care and domestic affairs, but spending time with playing with kids and eating becomes longer (Hook & Chalasani, 2008). Whatever the reason of one father, it is not surprising that these fathers feel more depressed than married fathers and are likely to report a lower level of happiness (Shapiro & Lambert, 1999; von der Lippe, Rattay, & Domanska, 2013).

Who said men can not bring up children? According to the American society, I do not hear very much of a single father. As a society, we are accustomed to thinking that women who have children but no father are beginning to believe that single mother is the present situation. But is not this unilateral in today's world? Some men raise their own children or nurture their own children. The movie Big Daddy (1999) shows a good example of a single father's identity. Father of the movie, Sunny raises children alone. In order to impress his girlfriend, he hired a 5 year old boy. Apart from what he saw when he was a child, he did not know what the patriarchal power would bring. However, his childhood alone is not enough to understand the care details of the child. He adopted Julian for the wrong reason, but he followed all the right paths, became the big dad of a big boy, and told him what he was.
