Sophocles' "Oedipus King" is a drama written after the devastating plague that hit the city of Athens in 430 BC. Play is about how knowledge leads to destruction and destruction based on how the character finds the truth about Delphic Oracle. A few years ago Edipus became the King of Thebes, former Reus king accepted the prophecy that his son grew up killing his father. Based on this information, he gave the youngest child a shepherd to trade with him. A few years later, Lieus was murdered, Sphinx emerged, blocked the city and refused to go in and out of the city unless it could solve their mystery.
The irony of Oedipus in the play and the sarcastic of his sight, Oedipu, Sophocles means the scene and blindness connecting past attitudes and knowledge. In this drama, ironically, Oedipus does not realize this is obvious to the reader. He is very proud of his tragic flaws. It was ashamed of him. Edepus, which makes me blind, symbolizes the growth, sensitivity, and ultimately 'see' ability of knowledge. He can now see the flaws of his arrogant attitude and the result of his pride. From the beginning, Edips was blinded to pride. Along with the death of Thebes city, Kryon came from Apollo God and talked about how to stop plaque. When he does not enter the palace to talk with Kryon, there will be examples of arrogance of Oedipus. He insisted on talking in front of citizens. Kryon says that the only way to stop plaque is to find the killer of Rolls before.
Tiresias - Thebes' blind fortune teller Tiresias has appeared in Oedipus and Antigone. In the King of Oedipus, Tiresias told Oedipus that he was a murderer of hunting, Oedipus did not believe him. In Antigone, Tiresias told Creon that Creon himself was bringing disasters to Thebes, and Creon did not believe him. However, both Oedipus and Kryon claim to be convinced of Tiresia. The literal expression of the prophet refers to the figurative blindness of those who refuse to believe the truth when spoken.
Blindness is an important theme of the entire Edips dynasty. There are lots of references related to vision, insight, brightness and darkness. Blindly use literals and figurines in the drama. Although King Thebes, King of Thebes had a physical perspective, he did not turn his attention to his background: he was a murderer of Lieus and he married a mother accidentally completed the Apollo prophecy. The blind theme became the most important in the play, when Oedipus requested the blind Prophet Teiresias to help clarify some of the information in the Apollo gods. Thebes are suffering from pestilence and unless the long-standing unresolved killing of the former king Reus is settled, as the murderer must be removed from the thebe in order to eliminate "land pollution" I discovered from God that I should not be. I hope he can provide more guidance, and Oedipus asks famous Teiresias to ask him about God. Again, Teiresias is physically blind and requires a little boy to take him to Oedipus.
