Should the United States Have Annexed the Phillipines

Senator Dear February 6, 1899 Yesterday was an important day in the history of the United States; we decided to become a country to consolidate the Philippines. The Philippines was an island nation in Southeast Asia and was not independent until 1565 when the Spaniards settled on the island. If the United States consolidates the Philippines, I will ask the senators questions. There are three reasons why the United States should consolidate the Philippines. We are responsible for spreading the democratic value overseas, Filipinos can not manage ourselves naturally and can not save the Philippines from tyranny of Spain and other European countries.

Yes, I think the United States should consolidate the Philippines. If the United States does not consolidate the Philippines, it will benefit a lot, but it should be morally condemned. If we do not annex the Philippines, we will not be better than when Britain ruled the United States. By merging the Philippines, we will give them much of the freedom we enjoy. Prior to the arrival of the United States, the Philippines was a somewhat barbaric country divided by poverty, but this is not static. They do not have a real common language (less than half of the countries use Tang Long), or modern agricultural skills.

I do not have a stable government in the Philippines and it is weak, so I think the United States should consolidate the Philippines. According to document number B, if the United States is not consolidating the Philippines, Germany, UK, or Japan may take over. If other countries dominate the Philippines, that country will have more power. If the United States merges the Philippines, we will gain some power and likely expand our empire. Another reason to integrate with the Philippines is that the Philippines needs education. According to document D, if we educate Filipinos, they will read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and make us laugh. This will be a drop. But we still have more power. The United States hopes to lead residents to the autonomous government and head towards the right direction. This leads to one of the reasons
