Junk food is often associated with an increase in childhood obesity in Australia. During the past 30 years, the nutritional value of food consumed by Australian infants has fallen dramatically, reaching a critical value (Tran 2005). As a way to overcome this problem, it is forbidden to sell junk food in the school canteen, as it is unhealthy, it can cause garbage problems and can cause child behavior problems. First, junk food should be prohibited from being sold at the school canteen to improve student behavior. Smith (2005) argues that junk food has many additives that may cause behavioral problems such as lack of concentration and hyperactivity. In addition, the response of The Food Show (2005) confirms that reducing their unhealthy food intake can improve their behavior. The program's answer also found that junk food often contains chemical additives that could cause behavioral problems. This was further confirmed by the school removing junk food and soft drinks from the school dining room. As a result, the students became settled in class after lunch (The Food Show 2005). Therefore, prohibiting the selling of junk food at school canteen can improve student's behavior.
