From the beginning, young people groups and gangs existed. Over the years these groups have had many negative effects on society. These youth groups, often called, are involved in many crimes and illegal acts that plague society. They are stereotypes, such as noisy, bad children, troublemakers, and many other naughty names. Some of the earliest gang records can be traced back from the 14th century to the 15th century in Europe.
In the United States, after the American Revolutionary War of 1783, the history of the gang started on the east coast. The emergence of these gangs is mainly due to the huge migration of the rural population to urban areas. In the late 1920s, the first street gangs in America, 40 thieves began in New York City. The gang of Washington, DC dominates the current federated triangle, among what is now known as Murder Bay. According to the National Youth Gang Center, in 2007, there were about 785,000 active street gang members in the United States. In 2011, FBI's National Gang Intelligence Center said, "There are about 1.4 million active streets, prisons and illegal gang members in the United States, including more than 330,000 gangs." Preventing young people from participating in gangs is an important issue. Compared to non-gang members, gang members committed unbalanced violent crime and misconduct nationwide.
