Service Learning

The Experience Education Association defines service learning as "a carefully monitored service experience that students have a conscious learning purpose and actively reflect what they have learned through their experiences" (Staton 1) . Service learning is a great opportunity to experience additional learning experiences while experiencing communities around the university's campus. "Service learning allows students to help others by applying what they learned from teachers, colleagues, and reading to the actual tasks done outside the four walls of the classroom" (Staton 1 ).

Service learning is based on experiential education - learning by doing.
