As an economist at the International Coffee Organization, he began his work and traveled to Africa to do work related to the World Bank. He began taking pictures seriously for the first time. Then he opted to abandon his career as an economist and switched to photography in 1973. First, Sebastian was a freelancer, and in 1974 he joined Sygma 's photo agency. A few months later, he stayed at Sygma where he took the story of Portugal, Angola, Mozambique. . He joined Gamma Photography Agency in 1975 and has worked on many stories in almost all Africa, Europe and Latin America.
