Scotland declares war on ‘lazy mapping practice’

The new law imposes strict rules on how government mapmakers can attract the calm island, the Shetland Islands, about 100 miles from the mainland of Britain.

Volume 6 - Scotland and Ireland. This volume contains 49 Scotland maps, 6 Ireland maps, and 170 page descriptions originally published in 1654 as Blaeu's Atlas novus Volume 5. These maps are complemented primarily by Timothy Pont's work (about 1583-1614) by Storake's Robert Gordon and his son James Gordon (about 1636-1652) of Rostom. The website of Scottish Blaeu atlas (1654) has a complete map and text fax, a translation of a large amount of text into English, detailed accompanying articles, and a place name dictionary of names in place names and texts.
