Saving the Ballona Wetlands

Prior to the explosion of California, the state had about 5 million acres of wetland habitats. Unfortunately, California has been willing to share 91% of wetlands for years and Southern California has lost 95%. There is only one wetland left in Los Angeles County. This is the Barona swamp between Marina Del Rey and the West Chester cliff which was the main part of the California Natural Wetland System. Prior to development, the natural habitat of Ballona wetlands occupied the area of ​​2002 acres.

Ballona Creek Bike Trail runs 7 miles from Channelized Ballona Creek from Syd Kronenthal Park of Culver's East (National Avenue) to the Pacific Ocean connecting to Santa Monica Beach and South Bay Bike Trail. The promenade will pass through the residential area, then go through the Baroana wetlands and see the landscape and wildlife. This road can be reached from many major streets; Ocean Drive Manhattan Beach features a footbridge leading to Redondo Beach and one of the iconic Los Angeles beach canals on the back. Most wood chip trails are swimming along Ocean Avenue. Highlights are "strands" which stand out for about a mile and provide a beautiful view of the beach. It can last 2 miles to Hermosa Beach.
