San Quentin State Prison

St. Quentin State Prison is one of the oldest and most iconic prisons in California. For all male prisoners who were sentenced to death in California, it is the only gas chamber in the state and the row of condemned prisoners. Prisoners living in San Quentin can work in furniture manufacturing and mattress manufacturing. The expert skills taught here include electricity, graphic arts, landscaping, dry cleaning, plumbing and metal manufacturing. Facilities offered include reading and writing programs, basic adult education programs, GED programs, and pre-release plans to prepare prisoners for release.
