Salva was born in a village in the southwest Sudan and arrived at the Dinka tribe. At the age of 11, the civil war in Sudan reached his village and pulled Salva away from his family. He joined thousands of boys called "Lost Boy" on safe trekking trips in refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya. After living in the camp for ten years, Salva got the opportunity to move to the United States. So, he is accepted into the family of Rochester, New York State.
