Salt Lake City Inversion and its Effects

I thought about Salt Lake City when our plane that I never went to West New York flew from New York to Utah. It obviously will not be like New York City. In fact, it does not look the same as any other city I have done before. Salt Lake City is in the middle of the Great Salt Lake, Wasatch, Okrill Mountains. The tallest building in Salt Lake City is over 400 feet, it may feel you do not have a very beautiful skyline, but in the mountains it is actually amazing.

When I want to drive from Salt Lake City via a canyon to the Utah State Park City, the place I want to live is like coming out of the clouds. As it is full of dense smoke and distorts visibility anywhere away from miles, it is difficult to see any Salt Lake City. Salt Lake City's air reversal is mainly due to being in the mountains. Upon reversing the air, cold air is retained by warm air from above, which causes the contaminants to be trapped in the cold air below. According to the New York Times article, "When a winter storm goes round the area, they will be piled up in the valley of the salt lake, but the intermittent warm high pressure system captures the cold air and makes a lid of the soup bowl. Prevent dirty air from automobile emissions and other pollutants (Frosch A 15) The toxicity of pollutants can harm your health for a long time.

Together with its geographical position, the surge of the population of Salt Lake City and its surrounding metropolitan areas makes air quality a major public concern. During the winter, the Wasatch Front receives intense temperature reversal to capture pollutants and lower air quality. The Utah State Air Quality Bureau monitors the air quality carefully and issues voluntary and forced behavioral alerts when pollution exceeds federal safety standards. Protests took place at the Utah State Capitol and democratic legislators introduced the law to the Utah State Council to provide free public transportation in January and July when air quality was usually the worst . The population of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area is expected to double by 2040 and is putting further pressure on the air quality in this area.

The population of the city is presumed to be 190,884 people in 2014, and it is the center of the Salt Lake City metropolitan area with a population of 1,153,340 people (estimated in 2014). This area is a continuous corridor of urban and suburban development covering about 120 miles (190 km) along the forefront of Wasatch and has a population of 2,423,912 as of 2014. This is one of the only two major city areas of the Great Basin (the other one is Reno, Nevada).
