In fact, the majority of conflicts in the novel are caused by incorrect stereotypes. Many of these problems can be solved by studying how society handles people according to social status. According to McGarty, Yzerbyt, and Spears, "... interaction with others is strongly restricted by group membership" (2). This can be seen everywhere in the outside world. Socs and Greases rarely take time to learn about people outside their group. The view of Ponyboy and his friend 's Socs is limited to what most people have heard.

This novel was created in Oklahoma in the 1960s. In this book, two conflicting gangs, soc and Greases are in conflict. Two lubricants, Johnny and Pony Boy, got closer to people in several social circles one day and Johnny killed one of the clubs to protect Pony Bow. The remainder of the novel explains the conflict between the two gangs and involves tragedy and redemption. This book explores the idea of a young gang and reflects true brotherly love.
