Rural Homelessness

The homeless Joado family in the country lost the farm and landed on Steinbeck's classic "Virgin of the Grape", so the United States lost the ability to not know homeless in rural areas. Like all rural populations, rural homeless people are not members of ethnic minorities like urban colleagues.

In order to understand the homeless of the rural population, it is necessary to define a more flexible homeless. Because the number of evacuation centers in rural areas is much less, homeless people are more likely to live in cars, campervans, or relatives who live in overcrowded or under-standard housing. Defining homeless to include only homeless - evacuation centers and people living on the street - does not match the reality of rural areas. Homeless people in rural areas such as urban homeless are the result of lack of poverty and affordable housing. Research shows that people experiencing homelessness in rural areas are more likely to be white, women, married and currently working. Homelessness of American Indians and migrant workers is also more common in rural areas.
