Romania sets date for referendum to block gay marriage

Bucharest - Romania made a national referendum from 6th to 7th October, and changed the definition of constitutional marriage to a union between men and women.

While most EU countries recognize gay marriage or civic partnerships, Romania does not allow overseas marriages, either. The constitution currently defines families as including spouses without specifying gender clearly.
