These two styles are often considered part of classical architecture. Roman architecture thrived in the Roman Empire, especially under the rule of the Empire. It uses new materials, especially concrete, and new technologies like arch and dome, and generally designs the buildings strongly and well. There are still a lot of numbers still in some form in the empire, sometimes complete and still in use.
