Robben Island Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Robben Island is located in the table bay near the coast of Cape Town, the former site of Nelson Mandela, and other political activists are imprisoned. You can go to the island by ferry and you can go to the island by bus or taxi. You can visit the entire island in about two hours. The island is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and many tour guides were prisoners of the island.

Victoria and Albert's waterfront have a daily ferry but we recommend buying tickets the day before because it is sold out. In order to secure a safe seat, we recommend arriving at the ferry terminal about 45 minutes to 1 hour before departure. When you are near, the island will be on the left side of the boat, so if you want a beautiful view, choose to sit on that side as much as possible. The outside seats are a bit cold, so if you plan to sit on the deck of a ferry, be sure to bring a sweater or a light jacket.
