Jacob August Riis was born on 3rd May 1849 at Ribe in Denmark and died on 26th May 1914 at the Barry of Massachusetts. Rees is a famous American newspaper reporter, social reformer, and photographer. His most famous work, "other half life" (1890), reveals the plight of the slums of New York City ("Jacob Rice: American Journalist", nd)

Riis emigrated to America when he was 21 years old. As a recent immigrant, he has worked on many types of work showing many aspects of his new urban dwelling ("Jacob Riis: American Journalist", n.d.). In addition, he survived charitable contributions from religious people and chefs, spent a homeless and ruthless time. Once, Riis became hopeless, I thought of finishing my life. The other half of life makes Riis famous and stimulates the law to influence Tang House. Many monuments around New York City are named Riis. Among them, Jacob Riis Park and Jacob Riis Triangle are in Queens named after him. Jacob August Riis School is a public school in New York City on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Jacob Riis Settlement House is a multiservice community organization located in Queensbridge Houses in Queens, Long Island City.

Jacob Riis, born in Lieber, Denmark, was among the fifteen children of Niels Edward Riis (a teacher and author of the local Ribe newspaper) and Carolina Riis (one of which was an orphan prostitute and grew up) It is the third housewife. .
