Founded in 1973, the American history review is a quarterly peer-reviewed journal issued by Johns Hopkins University Press. A review of new books on American historical themes, and reviews of influential titles of the past. It covers all areas of American history such as politics, military, economy, gender, religion, society, culture, law, knowledge, art, philosophy. Current editor-in-chief is Thomas P. Slaughter of the University of Rochester.
Being asked to review books from the viewpoint of Native Americans raises fundamental questions about the review process of academic journals. What constitutes the historical objectivity of the review?
