Arthur Miller 's play' Crucible 'can catch a glimpse of the notorious magical hysteria that happened in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. After the group of girls danced in the forest by the mayor, pastor Paris, the drama began. When one of the girls suddenly develops an abnormal illness, the first assumption is that witches and John Hale will be brought. Hale, a magical expert, was called to Salem to discover the evil behind the girl's pain. But the more he stayed in Salem, the more he asks himself. The real evil is living in Salem.

In The Crucible, Arthur Miller depicts the two leading characters, John Proctor and John Hale's pastor as "good balls". The word "naughty" in this play is ambiguous. Pastor John Hale was a good man who became a perfect and good citizen of Massachusetts in the 1600s. He is a godly and faithful law and faith, an excellent Puritan Christian.
