Retaking Courses

The course based on "review basis" is a course which the student has already studied and passed, or transfer of course work to the University of Wisconsin University Madison (unit of examination from other institution or unit of senior high school student). Therefore, if students want to repeat their previous university unit, the students can review. This is usually done to improve the foundation of the student's advanced course. Students must complete all the work of the course, participate regularly, participate in class discussions, and take all the exams. The refresh course is a regular unit of this semester. In addition, the student receives the final grades included in the term of calculation and the cumulative average score (GPA). However, credits acquired in the renewal course will not be counted as a degree. For details, refer to the recurring university course instead of the credits and registration units.

As a result, the relevant review course will be displayed twice on the student's transcript (or the number of times students accepted it). In the second pass of the course, the unit is not included in the degree unit of the student. It is important to note that the two grades are calculated based on the student's average college grades (GPA shown on the transcript). Minimum 0 GPA for the course, 0 GPA for the advanced course and 0 GPA for the University of Wisconsin Madison as GPA for all intermediate and advanced courses in undergraduate students.

Students who re-take the course to improve GPA must take the course again at their institution. Most schools can accept entrance units from other institutions, but GPA can not include grades. If your students are reviewing the course to complete the request, he may possibly think to re-learn the course at other institutions - perhaps during the summer vacation. Before your students decide to re-take the course, he must carefully consider his reasons. Of course, this is not the case if the course is a requirement. Your student may make some mathematical calculations to determine the importance of GPA improvement. There may be other goals, such as obtaining a degree on time, but that is more important.

If your undergraduate course fails, or if the course is not functioning well, he may have questions on whether to re-take the course. This is an individual decision, depending on your student situation and his educational institution's policy. Some schools may not allow students to re-take the course or may only allow students to revive F courses already acquired. The best way is to have your students discuss this option with his academic advisor.

Regardless of grades, students can re-learn their transcripts, complete only the original grades of the course and replace them with the "RP" symbol (repeating course). The unit and score of the second course will be included in the cumulative score average instead of the level and the first level. Since the "RP" symbol to register for the course can only replace the grade of the completed course, "W" symbol can not be replaced with "RP" symbol.
