Resources for Writers: The Writing Process

Writing is a process that includes at least four different steps. Pre-create, drafting, modifying, and editing. This is called a recursive process. As you make changes, you may have to return to the pre-writing step to develop and extend your ideas.

Before you write the draft of the document, preparation is all you do. This includes thinking, taking notes, talking with other people, brainstorming, collecting information, collecting (interviewers, surveys in libraries, data evaluation, etc.).
