Residential School System in Canada: An Intergenerational Tragedy

Residential school began in Canada before the federal era. It was mainly carried out after the Indian Act of 1876. According to the Indian law of 1867, the royal family permitted many restrictions on the status of the Indians. The Indian housing school system is one of the famous examples of the colonial system between the generations, and its influence is still echoed today. These schools are designed primarily to "re-educate" indigenous children to fit the colonial world. Children are taken away from their homes and are forced to live in a strange and hostile environment. Native children More than 25% of these schools are located in British Columbia. The last residential school was closed in 1996

The abuse of housing schools and the impact between their generations has had a devastating effect on the entire indigenous community. A lot of the history and experience of the indigenous people living in the school, including the influence on individuals, families, communities, and countries, are written. The purpose of this literature review is to investigate areas of healing of residential school abuse and intergenerational influences. The focus of this exploration lies in the treatment of indigenous peoples.

First of all, the purpose of this review was to investigate how indigenous communities can deal with intergenerational impacts from residential school abuse and the use of indigenous treatments. However, there are not many references focusing on this particular field. Due to lack of literature on therapeutic treatment strategies, the scope of the literature has expanded to focus on residential schools, including literature on social work, sociology, psychology, psychiatry, education and mental health. In addition, the scope of this review has been expanded to identify and focus on how indigenous communities recover from settlement using indigenous treatments. Because hospitalization is a type of settlement, some people think that the hospital treatment literature is applied to hospital treatment.
