In qualitative research, research samples are often very small. The goal is not statistically representative data, but to acquire abundant data which is an extensive overview (Carter & Little, 2007; Leedy, 2011). In contrast, quantitative research includes theories, predictions, or assumptions that must be verified (Leedy, 2011). The main idea is that the data is universal and the results can be reproduced by statistical reporting and digital reporting (Leedy, 2011, LoBionod-Wood & Haber, 2013). When conducting quantitative research, strict measures have been taken to avoid prejudice, and it is thought that researchers should be able to interpret and interpret information without affecting information (Farrelly, 2013).
Quantitative and qualitative studies are two types of EBP studies that nurses implement, evaluate and use to guide intervention and improve patient care (see "Quantitative and Qualitative Studies"). The test can be a specific quantitative or qualitative, or a combination of both. When research projects use both quantitative and qualitative data, it is often referred to as hybrid approach research. Quantitative studies include information expressed in terms of numbers, variables, and percentages. It tries to prove that all problems, dilemmas or assumptions have clear, concrete and objective solutions that can be expressed in digital format. This type of research focuses on specific narrow problems in double-blind trials, and in many cases there are large random groups and variables. For explanation, explanation, or prediction, the collected data can be analyzed with unbiased statistical data.
Since the use of qualitative research methods spread throughout healthcare, especially in nursing research, clinical care professionals (CNS) actually need to understand the potential utility of qualitative research results. In this column we will examine the meaning of the results of qualitative research, how to use the increase in qualitative research evidence, and how these findings will be useful for evidence-based medical practice. First, we will explain the background of the discussion to the reader, including the outline of qualitative research and its rationale.
