Renewable Energy

One of the many controversial issues in the United States is renewable energy. Renewable energy certainly brings many advantages, but it is still very underdeveloped. In order for the United States to be willing to support renewable energy, we need to prove that it is more efficient than our existing resources. In 2009, Obama proposed a climate action plan. He wants to reduce the pollution rate throughout the United States. Mr. Obama's main way to reduce pollution is to use renewable resources.

When considering energy and sustainability it is important to understand if energy is renewable. Renewable energy is defined by the US Environmental Protection Agency. "Renewable energy includes resources that can be recovered in a short period of time and that depend on fuel sources that do not decrease" (Source: US EPA). Non-renewable energy is energy that itself can recover and actually decrease in a short time. Normally it is easy to distinguish renewable energy from nonrenewable energy, but there are some exceptions (within 1 minute).

In the discussion between traditional energy and renewable energy, the obvious winner is renewable energy. Renewable energy is far superior to conventional energy sources because it reduces reliance on foreign resources, does not generate emissions, and there is no limit on the quantity. The most obvious advantage of renewable energy is its environmental impact or lack of environmental impact.
