Every August 21, we celebrate national holidays to celebrate the death of Ninoy Aquino Jr. But who is Ninoy and what did he do for his own holiday?

Benigno Aquino Jr., or for short, Ninoy is a former Filipino senator imprisoned for eight years after the declaration of martial law in the Philippines. During his tenure as President of Ferdinand Marcos, he was one of the democratic combatants of the country. He also cooperated with his wife, Corazon Aquino, to combat Filipino oppression.
