AnaMaríaLópezColomé is one of Mexico's great scientists. Biochemists born in Mexico City in 1944 were awarded the 2002 L'Oreal - UNESCO Women Science Award - Latin American Award for pioneering research on retinal research. Her research focuses on the prevention of retinitis pigmentosa that is the cause of many blindness and other retinal diseases. Carlos FuentesMacías was born in Panama in 1928, but the Mexican considers him one of their best writers. His most famous work is the death of Artemio Cruz, The Old Gringo, Christopher Unborn. He received the highest award in Mexican literature and received the Miguel de Cervantes award and Belizeario Deominaguez Medal of Honor.
