Relationships and Safety

All women have the right to live safely without violence. However, in the United States, one out of four women has received intimate partner violence. Intimate violence with partners includes domestic violence, sexual assault, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, compulsion and follow-up. Violence and abuse can persist physical and mental problems for a long period of time. If you have experienced violence or abuse, it is not your fault, you can get help.

Establish a safety plan to escape when the situation becomes dangerous. Security plan is necessary for everyone who is in abusive relation. Over the years shelter and crisis advisors have urged security plans, police stations, victim services, hospitals and courts to adopt this strategy. Personalize security plans, for example considering age, marital status, whether children are involved, geographical location, available resources, etc.

Safety is the same as interpersonal relations whether this person is a spouse, child, brother, sister, or friend. Safety is to provide a space for feeling the layers of protection and comfort. Safety means not to hurt each other. Security is that there is no malice of your intention. Security is about your position and never threatened. Security is a lack of violence and micro attacks. That is to allow people to express and space. This is about trust and understanding. Security is what every relationship should have, especially lifelong.
